2020 PhD Research Days
Making Information Futures Together: Rethinking Borders, Boundaries, and Intersections.
April 8-9, 2020 (Postponed)
Faculty of Information, Claude T. Bissell Building, 140 St George Street
We invite the Faculty of Information and broader University of Toronto community to join us at PhD Research Days 2020.
PhD Research Days was first instituted at the iSchool in 2014 as a way for iSchool doctoral students to present their research, solicit feedback, network with iSchool faculty and students, and gain valuable skills for presenting work in an academic setting. This event is aimed at all iSchool doctoral students, regardless of their stage in the program. It will include both long talks (15-20 min presentation & 10 mins Q&A) and short talks (10 min presentation & 5 min Q&A) for more preliminary work.
The theme for Research Days 2020 is “Making Information Futures Together: Rethinking Borders, Boundaries, and Intersections.” Research Days 2020 aims to bring the iSchool community together to present research, exchange ideas, and make connections to chart the future of Information Studies. Research Days 2020 will explore the various intersections between information, technology, and society. Here, iSchool PhD students will present a variety of fields and perspectives that engage with issues including, but not limited to:
- Archives & Records Management
- Critical Information Policy Studies
- Cultural Heritage
- Information Systems and Design
- Knowledge Management & Information Management
- Library & Information Science
- Media, Technology and Culture
- Philosophy of Information
With the theme of Making Information Futures Together: Rethinking Borders, Boundaries, and Intersections, the Faculty of Information’s 2020 PhD Research Days aims to recognize the varied background of our students and faculty, and the plethora of topics and many different fields of our doctoral studies.
